MRSA:  The Next Epidemic?

 

This training is targeted towards prehospital and hospital personnel including EMT’s, firefighters, nurses and other healthcare personnel.  Topics that will be covered:  Infection Control – description, history, types of infectious diseases and how they are spread, personal protective equipment and prevention.  The primary focus of MRSA is how to protect yourself, standard precautions, epidemiology, community acquired vs. hospital acquired MRSA and treatments.  Following the lectures there will be an open forum with a question and answer session and evaluations to be filled out.

·        Stephen Fleming – Epidemiologist – Massachusetts Department of Public Health

·        Donna Romano – EMS Coordinator / Instructor – Massachusetts Firefighting Academy
